Provide telehealth-based psychiatric care for adolescents and adults, with some roles spanning ages 13 and up, focusing on assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, psychotherapy, and medication management for mental health and substance use conditions. The role also includes monitoring treatment response, ordering appropriate diagnostic testing, and educating patients and families about diagnoses and medications. Clinicians work closely with an interdisciplinary team in a tech-enabled community mental health model and maintain thorough EHR documentation and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric care to adolescent and adult patients, including those across the lifespan as assigned.
- Conduct comprehensive mental and physical health assessments based on presenting symptoms and complaints.
- Diagnose psychiatric disorders, mental health conditions, and dual-diagnosis presentations.
- Provide individual psychotherapy for patients with acute or chronic mental disorders.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, and counsel patients on risks, benefits, and side effects.
- Monitor medication use, side effects, and treatment response.
- Order diagnostic tests such as EKGs and laboratory work as needed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and consult with clinical leadership for guidance.
- Document assessments, treatment plans, prescriptions, outcomes, and administrative forms accurately in the EHR.
- Educate patients and family members about mental health conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
Required
- Current board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) credential/license.
- At least 2 years of experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Experience treating adults with general mental health conditions and/or severe mental illness.
- Experience and comfort working with patients ages 13 and older.
- Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and/or substance use dual diagnoses.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
Preferred
- Experience in addiction and mental health care.
- Previous telehealth experience.
- Spanish language proficiency or fluency in other languages.
- Previous experience in community mental health.
- Motivational interviewing experience.
- Open to obtaining additional state licensures.
