Provide virtual metabolic and weight-management care for adolescents, including intake, lab review, individualized treatment planning, and ongoing management over time. Care is family-centered and may include GLP-1 therapy when clinically appropriate, alongside nutrition and behavioral support. This role works within a multidisciplinary telehealth model and uses clinical protocols with escalation pathways for complex cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments for adolescents entering the program, including history, risk factors, and eligibility review.
- Order and review labs, and escalate results that fall outside program guardrails.
- Design individualized care plans with patients and families based on goals and clinical presentation.
- Prescribe and manage GLP-1 therapy when appropriate within a holistic treatment plan.
- Monitor ongoing care, including follow-up visits, dose management, side-effect monitoring, safety review, and adherence support.
- Coordinate with physicians, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, and health coaches to keep care aligned across the team.
- Follow clinical protocols and escalation pathways, and surface complex or ambiguous cases to the Physician Lead.
Required
- MD or DO degree.
- Active, unrestricted medical license in good standing.
- Comfort caring for adolescents and their families.
- Interest in adolescent and obesity medicine.
- Willingness to complete onboarding training in weight management and GLP-1 therapy.
- Strong written communication skills and comfort working in an asynchronous telehealth care team.
Preferred
- Board certification in Obesity Medicine or a clear path toward certification.
- Prior experience prescribing or managing GLP-1 therapy.
- Prior telehealth experience and familiarity with telehealth workflows.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary model with dietitians, behavioral health clinicians, and health coaches.
- Bilingual Spanish/English or experience serving linguistically diverse pediatric populations.
