This role provides hands-on support for automated laboratory equipment used in an oncology molecular diagnostics workflow, with a focus on troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and root cause analysis. The work is onsite in a regulated lab environment and centers on high-throughput instruments such as liquid handlers and other automation systems. It also involves collaborating with quality, vendors, and cross-functional teams to keep equipment documentation, qualifications, and operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide service, support, and troubleshooting for automated laboratory processes and instrumentation.
- Perform and coordinate maintenance and repair work on laboratory equipment.
- Conduct root cause analysis and resolve issues affecting lab instruments and automated workflows.
- Carry out installation, operational, and process qualifications for new equipment as needed.
- Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure documentation meets regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors to address equipment issues and support resolution.
- Maintain equipment parts inventory and organized equipment records.
- Represent the equipment and automation teams in cross-functional meetings and contribute to process improvements.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline.
- 3+ years of experience operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment, preferably high-throughput molecular biology equipment.
- Experience with liquid handlers or similar automated lab instrumentation.
- Experience working in a CLIA or similar regulated environment preferred by the employer.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
Preferred
- Familiarity with molecular biology techniques, including next-generation sequencing.
- Experience troubleshooting complex scripts.
- Experience with data science or data engineering in an automated laboratory environment.
- Experience developing training programs and performing knowledge transfer.
- Experience working in a customer-focused service environment.
