Provide fully remote telehealth evaluations and follow-up care for patients seeking GLP-1–based weight management, including assessment of eligibility, comorbidities, contraindications, and treatment goals. The role centers on prescribing and titrating FDA-approved GLP-1 medications, with ongoing review of side effects, labs, and prior authorization support. You will also collaborate with registered dietitians and participate in clinical reviews and quality improvement within a tech-enabled nutrition care model.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct synchronous telehealth evaluations for new weight management patients.
- Assess eligibility, comorbidities, contraindications, and treatment goals using established clinical protocols.
- Prescribe and titrate FDA-approved GLP-1 medications for obesity and metabolic health.
- Manage follow-up visits through synchronous care and asynchronous chart review as permitted by state law.
- Review registered dietitian care summaries and incorporate documented lifestyle history into prescribing decisions.
- Provide dose titration guidance, side effect counseling, and lab review.
- Sign letters of medical necessity and respond to prior authorization appeals with clinical input.
- Participate in medical director-led chart audits, protocol updates, and quality improvement initiatives.
Required
- MD or DO degree from an accredited U.S. medical school.
- Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or a related specialty.
- Active, unrestricted medical licenses in at least 2 U.S. states.
- At least 3 years of post-residency clinical experience managing obesity, metabolic syndrome, or type 2 diabetes.
- Active NPI and professional liability or malpractice insurance covering telehealth encounters.
- Comfort practicing in a fully remote clinical environment with proficiency in EHR platforms.
Preferred
- Obesity Medicine board certification or training.
- Prior telehealth prescribing experience in weight management or metabolic health.
- Eligibility for or enrollment in the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact.
- Additional state licenses, especially in high-volume states.
