Physicians in this role perform independent medical-legal evaluations as a Qualified Medical Evaluator, reviewing patients and cases across a broad range of specialties and providing objective medical opinions. Work may be conducted remotely or through telehealth when appropriate, with flexibility to build a practice that fits part-time, full-time, or contract goals. The role includes support for certification, report writing, and practice development rather than traditional ongoing clinical care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct medical-legal evaluations and assessments as a Qualified Medical Evaluator.
- Provide objective written medical opinions and reports for legal and administrative cases.
- Review patient records, history, and documentation to support case analysis.
- Use telehealth or remote evaluation workflows where appropriate.
- Coordinate with administrative and support teams during onboarding and practice development.
- Participate in QME certification preparation and continuing education resources.
- Apply specialty expertise to evaluations across injury, illness, and impairment-related matters.
Required
- Active and unrestricted California medical license.
- Board certified or board eligible in an eligible specialty.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to work independently and provide objective medical opinions.
- Interest in medical-legal evaluation work.
Preferred
- Previous QME or medicolegal experience.
