This clinician evaluates and treats patients in acute psychiatric crisis through fully virtual, episodic care across emergency departments, hospital medical floors, and crisis stabilization settings. The role focuses on timely assessment, stabilization, and determining the least restrictive appropriate level of care, with collaboration alongside onsite teams. It is an evening remote psychiatry position for a board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrist comfortable working in a telehealth, multi-state model.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients in acute crisis across emergency rooms, hospital medical floors, and psychiatric crisis programs.
- Determine the most appropriate and least restrictive level of care and support timely disposition decisions.
- Direct or implement psychotherapeutic interventions and prescribe medications for mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.
- Collaborate with onsite professionals and partner healthcare teams to coordinate care.
- Work with support from a 24/7 access center that triages cases and assists during the shift.
- Use measurement-based, culturally humble, evidence-based practices in virtual emergency psychiatry.
- Manage multiple cases and coordinate across several settings and states at the same time.
Required
- Board-certified or board-eligible Psychiatrist.
- Unrestricted, independent licensure.
- Experience providing psychiatric care to patients across age groups.
- Experience treating patients in acute crisis and providing stabilization in 24/7 settings.
- Established CAQH and FCVS profiles.
- Ability to work remotely from a private, confidential office space.
Preferred
- Experience with telehealth and multi-state practice.
- Experience working with multiple EMRs at the same time.
- Advanced technical proficiency with laptops, cameras, monitors, Windows systems, Microsoft software, and EMR platforms.
- Experience communicating with patients from diverse backgrounds and delivering culturally competent care.
