This role provides 100% virtual psychiatric care for patients in acute crisis across emergency departments, hospital medical floors, and crisis stabilization units. The psychiatrist evaluates and treats vulnerable patients, helps determine the least restrictive appropriate level of care, and works overnight shifts that may fall between 12:00am and 6:00am EST. Care is delivered in collaboration with onsite teams and supported by a 24/7 access center, using evidence-based and measurement-based practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients in crisis across emergency rooms, hospital medical floors, and psychiatric crisis programs.
- Determine the most appropriate and least restrictive level of care and support timely disposition decisions.
- Direct and implement psychotherapeutic treatments and prescribe medication for mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.
- Collaborate with onsite professionals and partner healthcare teams in a coordinated care model.
- Work with support from a 24/7 access center that triages cases and assists during the shift.
- Provide culturally humble care to patients from varied backgrounds and age groups.
- Use multiple EMRs and telehealth technology to manage concurrent cases remotely.
Required
- Board-certified or board-eligible Psychiatrist.
- Unrestricted, independent medical licensure.
- Experience providing psychiatric care to all age groups.
- Experience treating patients in acute crisis or 24/7 stabilization settings.
- Established CAQH and FCVS profiles.
- Private office space for confidential remote work.
Preferred
- Experience working with multiple EMRs simultaneously.
- Advanced technical proficiency with telehealth hardware, Windows systems, Microsoft software, and EMR software.
- Prior telepsychiatry or telehealth experience.
- Experience providing culturally competent care.
